This is a phrase, that anyone seldom likes to read, mention, or even think about. Unless of course you happen to be an undertaker, in which case this provides you with never-ending soured of income. I am puzzled that since there are but only two certainties in life, this one is not spoke about, or even given the proper recognition.
It is but sure for one to be born, and then to die. That is clear, but why is this such a chilling idea. Has death, any other powers associated with it, that are still unclear to us. Over the course of my lifetime, I have looked back to find that I have preached at 122 funerals. One of which was that of my own mother. And in very case the question of the departed’s well-being became the main issue. The mystery surrounding what happens after “medical, physical” death has been a question that has pondered humanity for centuries. No I won’t claim to be an expert on the subject. In order to be an expert one must have died, and come back to life.
Now, you may ask about those who claimed to have died, and had an after death experience. So let’s take a good look at those for a second. Science, and medicine have shown the possibility of some one in the deep freeze to be able to be revived after a length of time has passed. Which would allow us to accept that there may be other factors which will aid in the reviving of a person after a lapse of time, and certain circumstances.
The Bible itself relates on two occasions where resurrections occurred that the timing between the death and the reviving, was much greater than science can account for. And yet no answers were provided by those who came back. Lazarus’s family were delighted simply to have him back among the living, to proved comfort during that time. In the case of Jesus Christ, his followers needed a push, to re start themselves. The account in the Bible addresses the reactions, but yet the questions of what happens, or where do you go, or even how did you feel are ever raised or questioned.
Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God. John 8:47
