In Biblical History the Dove has played a key role in various situations. Most of all in the ones that inspired hope, peace, love, and overwhelming power. The picture here shows us a sign that is not one that can be easily forgotten, or wished to see over, and over again. Clear skies, mean no rain, no overcast. Great weather. Add then the rainbow, which is a sign of God that all is in his hands, and is well. And then a Dove flying gracefully, across the sky.
This week I found myself at a gym watching a television set, while on a treadmill And found myself in tears. I was reminded that God is still so alive in the USA. Despite the efforts of our current government, to steer us to believe he’s not.
Carrie Underwood, whom I am a huge fan of before this anyways. Belted out a song that truthfully, she shouldn’t have been able too. To hit the notes she hit, with such power, such inspiration had to bring you to tears. The message in the song, even though it was subtle was clear, loud, and very to the point.
Heres where I ended up, cause that treadmill, just couldn’t compete where her song took me too.
In the Bible I read a passage that reads as follows:
When Jesus had been baptized, he immediately came up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens opened up for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him.
Now is was the basis of the images coming to mind as I heard truly an angel singing that night. You see a pregnant woman singing at the extreme top of her range, and holding notes with that ease. Only with the right inspiration and power, and gift from God himself. You see when one is Baptized as Jesus was in the passage above you come out and you may not see that dove land on your head. But you feel the presence and the power of the Spirit living in you.
And in this world we live today, with so much hatred, and killing. And so many Americans forgetting the basis of our strengths, this song comes back to light up the way.
Check the words, and let me explain:
He said, “I’ve been where you’ve been before.
Down every hallway’s a slamming door.
No way out, no one to come and save me.
Wasting a life that the Good Lord gave me.
Then somebody said what I’m saying to you,
Opened my eyes and told me the truth.”
They said, “Just a little faith, it’ll all get better.”
So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I’m changed
There must’ve been something in the water
Oh, there must’ve been something in the water
Well, I heard what he said and I went on my way
Didn’t think about it for a couple of days
Then it hit me like a lightning late one night
I was all out of hope and all out of fight
Couldn’t fight back the tears so I fell on my knees
Saying, “God, if you’re there come and rescue me.”
Felt love pouring down from above
Got washed in the water, washed in the blood and now I’m changed
There must be something in the water
Oh, there must be something in the water
And now I’m singing along to amazing grace
Can’t nobody wipe this smile off my face
Got joy in my heart, angels on my side
Thank God almighty, I saw the light
Gonna look ahead, no turning back
Live every day, give it all that I have
Trust in someone bigger than me
Ever since the day that I believed I am changed
There must be something in the water (amazing grace)
Oh, there must be something in the water (how sweet the sound)
Oh, there must be something in the water (that saved a wretch)
Oh, there must be something in the water (like me)
I am changed (I once was lost)
At the point where she sings, “And now I’m stronger” she takes the microphone away from her, and lets her voice echo in such a beautiful way. And all you can do is stand there where goose bumps running up and down your spine.
You see these inspired words are real, true and still happen and effect so many. It is just as the gospel says we need faith as a mustard seed to tell a mountain to move and it will move. There are still so many out there who still have no idea about what it all really means. With so few artist looking back at the hard-core inspirations of great songs from the past, both gospel and country, this one takes back to an ole style gospel revival where we can really walk away changed.
So Thank You Carrie Underwood, for your inspirational song. And those words that hopefully will sink into someone else’s heart. And just like the song find themselves looking back for that preacher to lead them down to the water. And be Baptized into a joy that you displayed so well that night.
And by the way, it’s really what you leave in the water. Cause when you come out you are so CHANGED!!
I am Changed, And now I’m stronger!
