Who am I that You are mindful of me

That You hear me when I call

Is it true that You are thinking of me

How You love me it’s amazing

 (Chorus)

I am a friend of God

I am a friend of God

I am a friend of God

He calls me friend

God Almighty, Lord of Glory

You have called me friend

Those are some pretty powerful words, in that song. I was driven this week to simply have fun within my Christian life. This song has been in my head all week. This song inspires you too have fun as we go. Jesus took time out to have during his walk on earth with the disciples. It is clear that they must have had lots of fun, and he was clearly always in the midst of it. So that when he did shed a tear, and showed sadness, that was a big moment.

Here is what the “online dictionary” says the meaning of the word is:

1. A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.

2. A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.

3. A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.

4. One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement

Now that makes things a bit easier, yet harder at the same time.  Most of us can not say that we have met Jesus face to face, yet he loves us as if he did. And he calls us friend. Well I don’t know about you, but that is one friend that I don’t want to let go, or lose.  And remember that the Bible says the following about a friend:

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Prov. 17:17

So as you go on in your days, count your friends, say hello to them and have fun. Then think about this prayer, and wonder what happen to these folks friends.

Heavenly Father,

Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mom who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can’t make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over the final exams with the fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot everyday (who really ought to get a job) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show, patience, empathy and love.

Hope that at the end of it all you can count your self as: A FRIEND OF GOD!!!!!
